5G FAQs – ANSWERED

5G technology is finally here! The next generation of wireless technology has been around for a while, and it has now started to make its way inroads. However, there’s a lot that people still don’t know about 5G. Here, we’ve answered a few questions about 5G so you can understand what to expect from this technology.

What is 5G?

5G refers to the 5th generation of wireless mobile communication. This next generation of tech promises users much faster data speeds, with lower latency and delays in transmitting data. It also offers more capacity, which makes for a far more efficient network.

How Are 4G and 5G Different?

5G technology can offer higher data speeds with a lot less delay in comparison to 4G, which is also referred to as 4G LTE sometimes. 5G services can even provide speeds that are up to 100 times faster than 4G LTE and almost immediate response time. For example, with 4G, it can take up to six minutes to download a full-length movie. With 5G, a movie of the same length can be downloaded in about 15 seconds.

When Will 5G Connectivity Be Available to Everyone?

5G networks have already been deployed in major cities across the U.S., and the coverage offered by carriers is only expanding. Check your carrier’s 5G coverage map to know if you have access to the technology or if you will be able to access it in the near future.

Can I Access 4G and 3G Services, After 5G Becomes Mainstream?

For the most part, even if 5G is available, 4G devices will continue to function well. Mobile providers are in fact expected to maintain their 4G coverage even as they invest and expand their 5G coverage. Check with your carrier to know if they have plans to phase out 3G services.

Can I Access 5G on Any Phone?

You need to have a 5G-enabled smartphone to access 5G connectivity with your mobile device. While most smartphones that are released today are 5G enabled, older devices may only be able to support 4G or 3G.
